Sunder Pichai
He is a IIT Kharagpur alumnus who joined Google in 2004 and
is now the appointed head of Google Inc.’s Android business. Android is the most widely used smartphone operating
system in the world. Born in Chennai in 1972 Pichai did his schooling from padma
Seshadri Bala Bhavan (PSBB) Chennai. Soon after his schooling he joined IIT
Kharagpur. He did M.S. from Stanford University and MBA from the Wharton School
of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was named a Siebel Scholar and a
Palmer Scholar.
After completing his education he started working in
engineering and product management at Applied
Material.He later joined in management consulting at McKinney & Company.
In Google he led the product management and innovation
efforts for a suite of Google’s client software products, including Google
Chrome and Chrome OS, as well as was largely responsible for Google Drive. Not
only this he want in to supervising the development of different apps like
Gmail and Google Maps. In 2010 he got noticed for being approached by Twitter to
lead product after Jason Goldman, VP of product for Twitter left in December
2011. But Pichai decided to stay with Google.
In 2011, he become senior voice president of Google Chrome
and Apps, Which includes the Chrome browser and operating system , Gmail
Calendar, Docs, and Drive. Pichai has more then 15 year of experience developing
high tech consumer and enterprise products. He serves as a Member of Board of
Advisor at Ruba, Inc. He has been a Director of Jiva Software, since April 2011.
On 24th October 2014 Sunder Pichai was appointed
as Google’s new Product Chief by CEO Larry Page.

Google CEO Larry Page said “Sunder has a talented for creating products that
are technically excellent yet easy to use and he loves a big bet. Take Chrome,
for example. In 2008, people asked whether the world really needed another
browser. Today chrome has hundreds of millions of happy users and is growing fast thanks to its
speed, simplicity and security. So while Andy’s a really hard act to follow, I
know Sunder will do a tremendous job doubling down on Android as we work to
push the ecosystem forward”
